In the old days producers and video editors had to flip through books of CDs and painstakingly put in each CD to find the music they wanted. Tracks were listed with cryptic categories and often after searching through endless entries the track would end up not sounding like what was expected. Users can search by keywords or common genres and moods, and instantly pull up the tracks they need.
Imagine it is 2:00am in the studio and you suddenly realize that the music you picked out is not working. You jump on the internet and go to the Stock Music site, preview a few tracks, whip out the credit card and within minutes you’ve downloaded a CD quality, fully licensed piece of music for your production!
Because we do a large volume of licensing and have one blanket agreement, our administration costs and costs per license allow us to charge very low sync fees ($39.95US per track). This not only benefits the customer, who is able to obtain music at a lower cost, but benefits our composers as well.
Composers are able to get their music into more productions and increase the likelihood of receiving royalties from their performing rights organizations such as ASCAP, BMI, or SOCAN. We give our composers 100% of all writers and publishers rights that their music earns.

Find the tracks you need quickly and efficiently. There are several ways to search the Stockmusic.net site:
Option 1: On the index page you will find many collections and libraries, with names such as "Dance Club Party" or "The Classical Edge", with brief descriptions beside each. We have tried to group music with certain themes so that you will lots of certain types of music all in one place. Click on the collection or library to open a page containing the tracks.
Option 2: Enter any descriptive word into the Stockmusic.net search engine (located below the Stockmusic.net logo at the top left of the screen). You can use mood words such as "sentimental" or "happy", instrument names such as "piano" or "guitar", or genres such as "punk" or "reggae". You can type in multiple words to narrow down your search, such as "funky guitar". You can also search for any other name or descriptive term. For example typing "Mozart" or "Bach" will return tracks from those composers.
Option 3: Scan down the list of common search terms found at the bottom of the homepage. Often customers will see a word that conveys the type of music they have in their mind. Click on the search word to display your results.
You will find a play/ stop button beside each track which you can use to listen to the track. You can bookmark the track(s) for later use, email bookmarks to colleagues or clients, or "add to cart" to if you want to license and download the track immediately.
After you have found the tracks or collection of music you like, click on the "add to cart" button. If you are a new user you will be prompted to log in, and if you are a returning customer you will be prompted to enter your user name (email address) and password. After you have logged in, check to see that the correct items have been added to your cart and the correct license is selected, or continue shopping to add more music to your cart.
When you "add to cart" at checkout you will automatically get our blanket "media producer" license, unless you have added something from the "on hold" or "retail/ restaurant" sections. At Stockmusic.net we have 2 licenses available:
Blanket Media Producer License
The blanket "media producer license" covers any usage in which you, the purchaser are combining the music with graphics, video, or sound elements to create any product/ production that is clear and distinct from the music itself. This includes content for tv, film, web, multimedia, podcasting, radio shows, embedding in video games and most other applications. This is the default license when you purchase music from Stockmusic.net.
Public Performance License
The "public performance license" allows use of the music for on hold/ background music, music in an office, restaurant, retail environments, institutions or other public places. This option is available at checkout when you purchase music from the "on hold" or "retail/ restaurant" sections of the site.
Extended Licensing
Extended licensing is available for projects that do not fit either of the above categories. Some examples of extended licensing would be: a) if you want to duplicate one of the collections at Stockmusic.net and give it away as a gifts to employees at Christmas, b) you want to create a relaxation CD and give it away as part of a spa retreat package, c) you are creating a website, or hardware device which will allow your customers to download or access free music tracks, d) you want to broadcast the music on its own (not as a part of a unique production). Select one of our extended licenses at checkout.

After you have logged in, simply click "proceed to checkout". You will be sent to a secure payment page where you can pay by Mastercard, VISA, AMEX, Discovery, or by using your Paypal account. After your payment click "return to merchant's website", or simply go back to your "My Stockmusic" account and your tracks will be available for instant download in your choice of MP3 (320KBPS), Wave, or AIFF formats.
If you lose the tracks in the future (your hard drive gets wiped out)... no problem. Simply log into your account and the tracks will be available for download.
