The blanket "media producer license" covers any usage in which you, the purchaser are combining the music with graphics, video, or sound elements to create any media product/ production that is clear and distinct from the music itself. This includes content for tv, film, web, multimedia, podcasting, radio shows, embedding in video games and most other applications. You can use it over and over, in as many projects as you see fit, for life. You may record the music in one or more such productions, and one or more times, of any length, in any such production. Stockmusic.net and all related music and sounds are owned by Digital Sound Media, a division of REM Publishing Inc. This license is between Digital Sound Media and the purchaser. This is the default license when you purchase music from Stockmusic.net.
The rights granted include:
The right to re-record, duplicate and release the music as part of your production in whatever medium you choose (e.g. video tape, film, CD ROM, DVD, digital formats), whether now known or hereinafter devised.
If the music is used in software such a video game application or other software product, the music must be "embedded" so that the end user of the software or video game is unable to extract or use the music on its own.
The right to use the music as a soundtrack "synced" with visual images as part of your production, and to exploit such production in whatever medium you choose (e.g. video tape, film, CD ROM, DVD, digital formats), whether now known or hereinafter devised.
The right to use the music as part of the public viewing, broadcast or other exploitation of your production (including but not limited to tv shows, videos, dvds, web sites, podcasts, multimedia presentations, and films), in any medium now known or hereinafter devised.
Note: It is standard within the industry that a producer generally does not have to pay any performance royalties to organizations such as ASCAP, BMI and SOCAN, but they are expected to include cue sheet information with their production so that the broadcaster's fees are distributed appropriately amongst contributing composers. We have included cue sheet information with every track for your convenience and also provide a cue sheet submission system on Stockmusic.net. Details about performance royalties may differ from country to country. Please contact the appropriate performing rights organization in your country if you have questions about performance royalties for a specific usage in a specific country. To find out more about your responsibilities for submitting cue sheets click here.

The "public performance license" allows use of the music for on hold/ background music, music in an office, restaurant, retail environments, institutions or other public places. This option is available at checkout only when you purchase music from the "on hold" or "retail/ restaurant" sections of the site. You pay once for the music, and can use it forever as an on hold message, or as background music in a public location. In the United States you will never have to pay anything to organizations such as ASCAP, BMI etc. because at Stockmusic.net we split the license fees with the composers directly. We have a direct license with all composers. The direct license is honored in most other countries, however in a minority of countries, performing rights organizations do not honor direct licenses, and the collection of fees is more like a tax. The performing rights organization will charge a restaurant or retail location regardless of the wishes or agreements of the composers or any direct license made. If you are using music for on-hold, retail, restaurant or public background usage outside of America, please check with your performing rights organization for specific details.
